Character, setting and prop of story

Alien

Desert island

Egg

Off the top of my head I'm thinking of a story where an alien is marooned on a desert island and has to take care of an egg until it hatches. However there are other possibilities so i'll wait until I've got at least a few developed ideas before going down one route.

  1. Make sure you get all of your ideas out here on the blog...the more ideas the better at this stage!

  2. Lots and lots and lots of ideas, Ciaran - compare this stage to thumbnailing - don't be precious, don't 'over think' - just keep the ideas coming!

  3. There could be a desert island inside an egg! Perhaps the desert island is explored and it is only shown at the end to be part of the aliens body or its egg! Like the camera zooms out and the desert that was shown is just a part of the aliens body! Those are some good words though!!

  5. Maybe a lonely alien who is last of its own species takes the egg away from the desert island bringing the egg to its own planet, with intentions to raise it as its own....then later discovering its a dinosaur egg that gets too big for its spaceship!

  6. Maybe your animation could start with an alien crashing into the sea and sinking with an egg - it's importance like Jen suggested is the last egg of its species which it intends to save its species with by repopulating.

The desert island could have an important role that just location like the water surrounding should have special properties that effects the aliens for example the salt could burn their skin making it more difficult for the aliens to return home??? Or maybe the aliens have to stay in the water because of the sun or that they can't breathe oxygen maybe design the aliens with gills like a fish so they can breathe???

    1. I like some of the stuff abut the backstory, not something I've put as much thought into yet.
